SUPERFOODS – GARDEN OF LIFE PERFECT FOOD RAW REVIEW
Perfect Food Raw has an extensive list of superfoods in their formula. It is organized on the label in three categories: Raw Organic Green Juice Blend, Raw Organic Veggie Juice Blend, Raw Organic Sprout Blend.
Green Juice Blend:
This section contains 5 superfoods: Organic Barley Grass Juice, Organic Wheat Grass Juice, Organice Kamut Grass Juice, Organic Alfalfa Grass Juice, Organic Oat Grass Juice. These are all very good greens-based superfoods that are loaded with phytonutrients. It’s not often that you see Kamut Grass in superfood drink formulas. This is an obscure, ancient grass very similar to wheat grass and alfalfa grass.
Veggie Juice Blend:
The veggie juice blend is quite extensive with 18 different superfood vegetables and all extremely beneficial. Everything from spinach, beet to kale and ginger. I’m very impressed with the range and variety of vegetable juice extracts used in this formula.
Sprout Blend:
Again, 13 sprouted veggies in this section and amazing selections. A very impressive collection of some of the Earth’s healthiest substances including Quinoa and Chia seeds.
Simply put, the variety and comprehensiveness of the superfoods in this formula are exceptional. Not only that, they are in the form of organic juice extracts. This is phenomenal. The juice is where the phytonutrient content of a plant live –which is why juicing organic, raw produce is so healthy. Most products use the powder from the whole plant instead of the juice because it is far less expensive.
The only blemish of this formula is that the total potencies of all these superfoods is less than 6 grams per serving. Though not a deal-breaker, 6 grams is just not as potent as other reviewed superfood drinks on this site. Compare with Athletic Greens (probably the best tasting green drink) that contains 8.5 grams of organic superfoods or to Living Green Supreme Food and you will notice you get 8 grams per serving with LGSF with the added benefit of fermented grasses.
The other mild concern is that we don’t know how much of each ingredient is in the product. How much kale? How much quinoa? How much beet juice? Sometimes, companies will put a tiny smattering of a nutrient in a formula because they want the ingredient on their label when the health benefits from such a small amount are irrelevant. I’m not suggesting this is the case with PFR but that’s just my point: there’s no way of knowing.

NUTRITION BREAK DOWN – GARDEN OF LIFE PERFECT FOOD RAW REVIEW
The lion share of this formula is the superfoods section and the superfoods are so extensive that it really does not need much more to make it an incredibly nutritious formula. With that being said, PFR did include a probiotic/enzyme formula which I always feel is important in a superfood drink product. When you are ingesting the level of phytonutrients and nutrient-dense calories from these type of foods, it’s nice to do so with probiotics and enzymes to help with caloric utilization. The problem is, the entirety of the probiotics and enzymes in Perfect Food Raw is a mere 100 mg. This is a very small amount.
There’s also no separate antioxidant section, no protein, no additional herbs. Granted, the quality and amount of superfood ingredients are loaded with antioxidants, many superfood drinks will add certain antioxidants and protein and other ingredients to make the formula more well-rounded.

TASTE – GARDEN OF LIFE PERFECT FOOD RAW REVIEW
Okay, so the good news is that the superfoods in PFR are exceptional and they are juice extracts, making them more potent. The bad news is that because of this the taste will slap you right across the face. Yep. It’s strong and potent and will automatically eliminate a lot of people from using this product. But in all honesty, for me, this is a badge of honor. It makes me confident that the stuff is excellent for you.
This is a product you’re going to want to mix with other sweet things like fresh fruit, organic juices –things that will cover up the strong, grassy, taste. Man-up –it’s awesome for you! Make a health smoothie if you need to.

VALUE – GARDEN OF LIFE PERFECT FOOD RAW REVIEW
The value of PFR is better than most. This is always the hardest part of superfood drink reviews because every product is different. I try and look at the list of ingredients, the quality and potencies of the ingredients, the total cost and the amount of servings.
A 30-day supply of PFR is on average around $28. So this breaks down to just under $1 per serving. You are getting 10 grams of nutrition per serving and though there are many products where you can get upwards of three-times this amount, the 10 grams per serving are absolutely nutrient-dense and highly beneficial. And, for under a $1 per serving, I firmly believe PFR to be one of the best value-products of any superfood drinks. It’s a great lower-priced alternative to some of the high-end, high-dollar products I’ve reviewed such as Living Fuel Super Greens and Shakeology.

SUMMARY – GARDEN OF LIFE PERFECT FOOD RAW REVIEW
Perfect Food Raw is one of the better superfood drink products I’ve reviewed for the price. There are more comprehensive products, more potent formulas, but, PFR has an amazing list of superfoods that are almost unmatched. And, because they use organic juice extracts, you are ingesting the essence of the superfoods –the juice. The juice is where the phytonutrients live folks.
At under a buck a serving, this product is highly recommended for value and is by far the best mid-range superfood drink I’ve reviewed thus far.
One word about Jordan Rubin and Garden of Life. There has been some recent controversy about some of the claims he’s made about some of his products. The FDA has filed a suit against him based on inaccurate and unlawful claims. My thoughts on this are he needs to stop making such claims because they are unnecessary. The product will stand on it’s own merits.
The FDA needs to justify their existence and when a company reaches a certain level of financial success, look out, they’ll come calling. I find it beastly how the FDA will target raw-food, and nutritional supplement companies while billions of dollars are being made by large pharma selling poison. Makes me wonder who’s really controlling the FDA.
I hope this Garden of Life Perfect Food Raw Review has given you a better understanding of this product and feel free to ask any questions or leave a comment.

I have searched for hours online for super food products and I am glad for this site. All the comparisons, all the healthy and important ingredients all listed. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. It has being an honest desire for me to raise my family in a healthy manner and this site will be a companion
H Margaret,
Thanks so much! Many more reviews to come. Thanks for visiting.
I really like this site and with Margaret’s review. It is great having a to go to place where all the work of comparison shopping on ORAC greens has been done.
It is very well done.
Thank you Annabelle. We love you too!
It seems like a really good easy way to pack plenty of the benefits of superfoods into your diet without having to take the time to find and buy good healthy organic produce which can also be expensive.
I have to agree with you about the FDA also, there is so much synthetic processed garbage on the market yet they have to spend time dealing with someone who actually makes a healthy organic alternative to the poisons that we otherwise get exposed to
Hi Jess. I totally agree. The FDA allows drugs to be sold to the masses that have catastrophic consequences and yet, they bully the companies that are taking natural herbs and botanicals and creating truly beneficial products. Makes you wonder.
Yeah . I agree. The FDA has to justify their existence by going after the REAL FOOD products out instead of the major money mongers like Monsanto with their genetic modifications on the so-called food they put out, while suing everyone and their grandmother and the small farmers.
Your reviews are great! I agree whole-heartedly with your stance on the FDA. It’s sickening what they allow us to eat! I am a pretty active dude, exercising 5-6 days a week. I am looking for a health drink like the ones you have reviewed to drink every morning. I don’t have the time and energy to “juice.” If you could pick one, which would it be? Thanks in advance!
Hi Will,
Thanks for your inquiry. I would choose either the Total Living Drink Greens or Living Fuel Super Greens as the “all-inclusive” green drink. I would choose Green Vibrance as the “mid-range” product.
Thanks again!
I love it…. Best ever very tasty
I love the product my only down fall is that The container need to be fill to the top for the price you pay for it. Other then that It a very good superfood.
I bought a container of this product and forgot about it. It is now more than 6 months past the “use by” date. Do you think it is still usable? Still potent enough?
I wish you rated this product better. His company is unmatched in my opinion for integrity. His probiotic, Primal Defense, which I have been taking for 12 years, has no match, really! I’ve tried most of them. HIs product heals. HIs productS are always among the best. Whether or not Jordan Rubin’s product is the absolute top, you be the judge, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. He has also introduced good all natural flavorings to mask the harsh tastes so now they taste good, too.
Ohh..Great review ! I agree with your Garden of Life Perfect Food Raw review and I also don’t like the taste of this product.
What do you mix this with…filtered water? Juice?
I found my answer, thanks. Water or juice both work per the directions on the bottle which I was able to view on amazon.com
hi i have the product. i have tried it once or twice, but the taste does not appeal to my taste buds, however, i’m excited about using up all of the powder – i’m hoping it’ll help me get back on a healthy track. i’d like to know what are the best ways you have found that works for mixing it in drinks or smoothies… the label suggests water or juice, but i once put a full scoop full in my smoothie and it made me gag. Help!!! 🙂
Though Garden of Life had a good reputation. ? ? I mix the Raw Org. Green Super Food with Greens First and it blends well enough that I get best of both. I too agree that the FDA needs to keep a more careful watch on the big pharma and chemical medicines rather than organic and natural.
One more thing . . . tried to find the ORAC value for GofL Green SF. Also, misspelled thought, above. ;-(
I’d like to know if the capsule form of this product is just as effective. Will it get absorbed by my body just as well? Taking it in capsule form helps avoiding mixing it with something and the strong taste.
Hi Jo,
The simple answer is no, the capsules will not be as effective, simply because of potency. It would take quite a few capsules to get the same amount of nutrition in a scoop of powder. That does not mean you shouldn’t take the capsules. It just means that you will not be ingesting the same amount of overall nutrition.
Hope this helps.
I use Raw greens from Garden of life now for ten years. I just mix it with Raw Protein and some Prom juice. Great!
I really appreciate your comments and review. I wonder, for myself, how this contributes to alkalyzing the body. I am working to increase my Ph to at least 7.4. I know that makes a big difference in health.
If you have any comments on this, it would be helpful.
