Balance of Nature Fruits & VeggiesEveryone wants to live a healthier life, but may not have the time to do so. With increasing rates of spreading disease, Dr. Howard created a health supplement in order to help those looking for a little bit more nutrition in their daily diet. Dr. Douglas Howard is a chiropractitioner that studied nutrition and medicine, and eventually created the supplement company Balance of Nature. One of the more popular products is Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies, which is a combination of two separate capsule bottles, one being vegetables and the other being fruit.

Is this supplement all it’s cracked up to be? Let’s check it out.

Balance of Nature Ingredients

At first glance, the nutrition label is lacking a ton of information that I usually look for in a reputable product. The only thing listed on the label are the fruits and veggies used in this capsulized supplement. There are NO carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, or antioxidants. Alright, so we’re off to a rough start…Let’s break down the ingredients that we know are in this product.

Vegetables

The following are all of the vegetables listed in this blend:

Zucchini, Yam, Wheatgrass, Spinach, Soybean, Shiitake Mushroom, Onion, Kale, Garlic, Celery Stalk, Cayenne Pepper, Cauliflower, Carrot, Cabbage, and Broccoli.

Now, let’s take a closer look at each vegetable and explain the health benefits you could take advantage of when consuming these tasty greens regularly.

Shiitake Mushrooms are powerful ingredients that help strengthen your heart. These tasty fungi are rich in sterol, beta-glucans, and eritadenine, which can help regulate and lower cholesterol. Not only that, but they can help reduce blood pressure, they’re rich in vitamin D, and essential to building strong bones.

Wheatgrass is another powerful ingredient used in this mix, and is loaded with chlorophyll, a pigment which is a natural anti-inflammatory. Many studies and tests have been done showing wheatgrass was able to relieve ulcerative colitis, which is an inflammation of the large intestine. Wheatgrass can also help you to lose weight . Thylakoids present in wheatgrass make you feel full, and can help to slow down the absorption and digestion of food.

Kale is probably one of the most nutritious veggies out there. One cup of kale, according to Healthline, contains 680% of the DV (daily value) of Vitamin K, 134% of the daily value of Vitamin C, and 205% of the DV of Vitamin A. If you are looking for a quick way to boost your nutrients, eat more kale! Kale is also high in antioxidants, kaempferol, and quercetin which are great for inflammation, fighting off cancer, and an antidepressant aid.

Garlic is well known for its ability to boost your immune system. If the common cold affects your life regularly, maybe try to eat some more garlic. Garlic is also packed with antioxidants, lowers cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, and may even help reduce the risk of Alzheimers or dementia.

Beyond that, garlic has also been found to be able to remove heavy metals from your body. Healthline did a study showing those surrounded by high exposures of lead (car battery plant) reduced their lead levels by almost 20% by consuming more garlic. It also seemed to help with toxicity symptoms such as high blood pressure, and headaches.

Soybean has gotten some bad attention, and has raised some issues when it comes to your health. When you consume a large amount of soybeans, you may be hindering your thyroid function. Hypothyroidism has a large number of symptoms such as constipation, discomfort, and an enlarged thyroid.

Fruits

The following are all of the Fruits used in this blend:

Apple, Aloe Vera, Blueberry, Banana, Cranberry, Cherry, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mango, Papaya, Orange, Pineapple, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Tomato

As I’m sure you know, these fruits can be highly nutritious, let’s take a closer look at the more powerful ingredients used.

Grapefruit is an excellent source of fiber, which can help to slow down digestion and the absorption of food, therefore helping you to lose weight. Grapefruit can also help to fight off your chances of diabetes, mostly because of its natural ability to prevent insulin resistance.

Pineapples are known for boosting and building a strong immune system due to their high Vitamin C content. Vitamin C plays a huge role in development, growth, and helping to absorb iron from foods.

Blueberries are considered one of the most powerful superfoods. These tiny morsels are rich in antioxidants, and fiber. They help to regulate your blood sugar levels, and can even strengthen brain and heart function. Over time your DNA gets damaged due to aging. Blueberries are full of antioxidants, which can help to repair your DNA, or even keep your DNA from getting more damaged.

Aloe Vera is a great way to boost your immune system, and keep yourself from falling ill. Aloe Vera is also good at detoxing your liver. This is due to the phytonutrients, which hydrate and flush all of the toxins from your body. Aloe Vera is also a main ingredient in a plethora of skin products, helping to prevent damaged skin and wrinkles.

  • One thing I’d like to point out about this label. Even though this seems packed with all of the essential vitamins and nutrients, there is no indication on how much of each ingredient is used. Furthermore, I couldn’t find any information on the amounts of vitamins and minerals used in the mix, on their label, or on the website.

Like many of the other supplement companies out there, Balance of Nature has lost quite a bit of credibility in my eyes when it comes to Fruits and Veggies.

The Health Benefits of Balance of Nature Fruits & Veggies

I’m going to keep this as short and sweet as possible. It’s going to be very hard to determine whether you’re going to see any added benefits from this product, and that’s me being nice.

The website gives you the same old spiel, “You can get all of your daily nutrition in the most convenient manner” blah blah blah.

I’ve seen so many other supplement companies go into detail about how they build their blend to target specific areas of health, but Balance of Nature misses this mark.

Beyond that, there is little to no product information regarding any of the ingredients used in Fruits & Veggies. I couldn’t even find the fat, sugar, carbs, protein, vitamin or mineral content.

Here’s what we know….The serving size is 3 capsules of Fruits (2.4g) and 3 capsules of Veggies (2.4g) each day. This is 4.8 grams in total. This alone tells me that this blend has an extremely low potency.

There are 16 fruits and 16 veggies in each pill. Let’s do the math here…Let’s just say each ingredient is in equal amounts, they probably aren’t, but we don’t know because they don’t tell us, so let’s assume for a second…

Each ingredient amount would be around 154 mg. 154 mg of any whole plant is pretty ridiculous. This is equivalent to 4% of a teaspoon. That’s right, a TEASPOON!

Who thinks 4% of a teaspoon would do anything for you? Even combining all 31 fruits and veggies you would still only have ⅓ of a tablespoon of total produce. So you take 6 pills and basically get a teaspoon of produce? That’s a terrible deal.

Balance of Nature Taste

The taste of Balance of Nature is nothing to shout about from the rooftops. From the research I’ve done, I noticed that most people are tolerable to the taste, some even chewing the capsules.

The vegetable capsules are best swallowed, but I did see in some instances where people open the capsules and pour the powder over other foods, such as salads.

If that’s the case, why even produce capsules? In my opinion, capsules are a waste, especially if your product tastes good. Why not just create a superfood powder that’s mixable? It would probably lower the cost for customers, which we dive into next.

Balance of Nature: What Does it Cost?

If you purchase Balance of Nature through their website you should expect to pay around $90. This is for a 30 day supply. Each supply comes with 90 capsules (3 per day). That means this product costs about $3 per serving! What?! That can’t be right.

They do have an option to purchase as a preferred customer, which brings the total down to $70 for a month supply, only if you opt-in to a one time purchase of $25, which includes free personal health coaching.

This may seem like a good deal but we can assure you that it’s not. Many people have had problems with subscriptions, and charges that they never approved. Not only that, but they have no information on any health coaching, or profiles of those who coach.

To give you an example, Kylea Total Living Drink Costs around $99 for a 30 day supply, but you are getting 40 grams per serving compared to 4.8 grams in Balance of Nature.

Balance of Nature Customer Reviews

As I searched the internet for reviews on this popular supplement, I noticed a lot of different reviews on this product, most of which weren’t great.

A lot of the reviews come from their website, which instantly discredits them in my eyes. I couldn’t find many reviews anywhere else, but I did notice they had a few marks on the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

Many customers were charged for products that they never purchased, and they had a really hard time canceling subscriptions.

After reading a lot of negative reviews, I knew that the high cost, and lack of information was just the icing on top of this already disastrous product.

Balance of Nature Pros and Cons

Weighing the pros and cons of a product is always recommended before making a purchase. Below is a small pros and cons list I put together for you to reference so you can save your time from scouring the internet.

PROS

  • Has ingredients that could promote a healthier lifestyle
  • Tastes good

CONS

  • Extremely expensive for the lack of ingredients
  • Low Potency
  • No enzymes, probiotics, or antioxidants
  • Tons of customer complaints
  • No ingredient amounts listed

Final Thoughts

As you can see Balance of Nature is just another low potency product on the never ending shelf of superfood supplements.

To be blunt, Balance of Nature probably isn’t worth your money. The ingredient amounts aren’t listed on the label or website, the amount of nutrition is barely enough for an insect, and the customer reviews definitely don’t help the product.

If you are looking for a high quality superfood powder, that is worth your $99, then we highly recommend you check out Kylea Total Living Drink.
